Maybe you’ve walked this road yourself. Maybe you’ve sat beside a mother, sister, or friend while she did. Or maybe you’re simply looking for a meaningful way to show up for the women in your life. Whatever brings you here this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there’s a place for you in our community’s fight against breast cancer.
This year, A Woman’s Place is proud to sponsor Making Strides of Southwest Florida, the American Cancer Society’s local breast cancer walk in Naples, and we would love for you to walk with us.
Join Us at Making Strides of Southwest Florida
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer brings together survivors, caregivers, families, and friends from across Collier and Lee counties to raise funds for breast cancer research and patient support programs. It’s a morning filled with pink, plenty of encouragement, and a powerful reminder that no one faces breast cancer alone.
- Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026
- Time: Beginning at 7:00 a.m.
- Location: Paradise Coast Sports Complex, 3940 City Gate Blvd N, Naples, FL 34117
- How to get involved: Sign up to walk, donate to the American Cancer Society, or both
You don’t need to be a runner to take part. Walkers of every pace are welcome, and simply being there to cheer on survivors makes a difference. Grab your pinkest shirt, bring your family and friends, and look for the A Woman’s Place team.
Why We Stand Tall Like the Sunflower
Our theme this October is Standing Tall Against Breast Cancer, and the sunflower is at the heart of it. Sunflowers stand tall and turn toward the sun together, even in difficult conditions. To us, that’s a beautiful picture of the women we care for every day: resilient, hopeful, and stronger when surrounded by support.
Plant a Sunflower This Month
Here’s a simple way to join in, whether or not you can make it to the walk. Plant a sunflower this month in honor of a survivor or in memory of a loved one. Take a picture as your seedling grows, then share your story and tag us @awomansplacenaples. We can’t wait to see your garden bloom.
Awareness Starts With Early Detection
Walking and fundraising help move research forward, but one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself is stay on top of your breast health. About 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and when it’s found early, it’s often highly treatable.
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends that women at average risk begin screening mammograms at age 40. If you have a family history or other risk factors, your provider may suggest starting sooner or adding other imaging. We’re always happy to talk through what makes sense for you.
At A Woman’s Place, you don’t have to go far to stay current. We offer 3D mammography and breast ultrasound right in our Naples office, so your screening can happen in the same place you already trust for your gynecology and wellness care. 3D mammography gives our team a clearer, more detailed view of breast tissue, which helps with earlier detection.
And if you’ve noticed a lump, pain, or any change in your breasts, you don’t need to wait for your annual visit. Reach out, and one of our providers will examine you and guide you on next steps.
We’ll See You on October 24th
For more than 35 years, A Woman’s Place has cared for the women of Naples at every stage of life. Standing beside our patients and our community this October is one more way we get to do that together. Lace up, plant a sunflower, and make time for your own screening. We’ll be cheering you on.
Due for a mammogram or a well-woman visit? Request an appointment online or call us at 239.513.0053.
