Ideal candidates are women experiencing mild to moderate SUI who prefer a minimally invasive option. Bulkamid® is performed under local anesthesia in about 10–15 minutes, making it a good choice if you’d like to avoid general anesthesia or a longer recovery from traditional sling surgery. During the procedure, your provider makes 3–4 small injections of the gel around the urethra. You’ll be comfortable under local anesthetic, and most patients feel only mild pressure or discomfort. The entire treatment takes roughly a quarter‑hour, and you can go home the same day.
Recovery is quick for most women. You may experience mild urinary urgency or discomfort for 24–48 hours. We recommend avoiding heavy lifting and high‑impact exercise for about one week, but you can usually return to desk work or light activities within 1–2 days.
